Whole Milk, Leaner Kids

Whole Milk, Leaner Kids.
Contrary to what you might think, children who drink whole milk may be leaner than those who drink milk with 1 percent or 2 percent milk fat. In a study of 2.745 children ages 2 to 6, those who regularly drank whole milk had body mass indexes–BMI, a ratio of height to weight– that were 0.72 points lower than those who drank reduced–fat milk. Take for example, a 3-foot-tall child, that would mean a difference of about one to two pounds. The link remained after accounting for other factors that can affect weight. Researchers think that because whole milk makes children feel fuller, they eat less of other higher-calorie foods.
